Resources

Telescopes
The Society has an 8" Newtonian reflector, and an Orion Optics 6" with electric drive. The 8" contains a mirror ground by members in the 1960's and was figured by H Wildey a well known mirror maker. Both these instruments are available for use by members. The 6" is a good starting point for anyone considering the purchase of their own telescope. It has been used successfully at Observing evenings

Books
The Society has a growing collection of books in its library. These are on display at most meetings. Please speak to our Librarian.

Email
Members with an email can have their address added to the group mailing list. Group mailings provide information on meetings, astronomical events (e.g. a bright comet), aurora, observing evenings and topical observations.

There is a separate email list to informing visitors of future public events. Those on the list will have given their contact details to a committee member at a previous event organised by the Society.(eg Star Gazing Live)
The most recent list contains over 200 addresses of interest famillies.
